Scotland’s Wildlife Discovery Centre

Baxter Studio has been commissioned to work on Scotland’s Wildlife Discovery Centre at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s (RZSS) Highland Wildlife Park. This eight-million-pound project will create a network of three hubs around the park which will illustrate the challenges facing wildlife in Scotland and around the world. The main Discovery Hub will use innovative digital technology to immerse people in stories of Scotland’s wildlife of the past, present and future. The Learning Hub will enable visitors, groups, and communities to learn about wildlife conservation while the Hilltop Hub, with views of the wildcat enclosure, will tell the story of why wildcats in Scotland are on the brink of extinction and how the RZSS is working to save them. The new buildings will be constructed from a material palate of steel, stone, timber and zinc and finished with green roofs. The Scotland’s Wildlife Discovery Centre project will also involve the refurbishment of the Highland Wildlife Park’s existing visitor centre.
